The Back to Basics Uniform Program distributed 21,000 new school uniforms to 60+ elementary and middle schools, an increase from 17,000 in 2019.
In spite of the Covid pandemic, the Back to Basics Angel Program provided gifts of new sneakers, socks, underwear and a toy to 8,150 students this year, an increase from 7,500 in 2019!
This has been a tough year due to COVID, and we were all faced with challenges on how to
continue to help those facing a greater need than ever.
Our program relies on the schools to provide the information for underserved children, but with limited in-person classes,
the schools struggled, yet succeeded, in providing the students’ information!
We anticipated difficulties with the distribution of Angel names to the community,
therefore requiring us to fulfill a larger number of gifts ‘in house’.
We also realized that we could not safely work in our current 1000 sq ft warehouse.
With all of that in mind, we were able to secure a temporary, larger location to insure the health and safety of our volunteers,
as well as accommodate the higher volume of inventory we procured for 'in house' gifts.
Our core group of volunteers went above and beyond with their time, effort, and expertise to reach our goal.
Many additional volunteer groups stepped forward to help with the increased in-house ‘shop and wrap’ portion of the program.
Our outreach to the community was met with an amazing and heartwarming response;
with financing, an increase in volunteer hours, and the distribution of students’ gift tags.
We realize that many of you overcame challenges to provide these gifts, which we truly appreciate.
Our goal this year was to provide for 7500 students, but with your participation, we were able to provide for 8150 children!
Looking forward into this new year, we anticipate an even greater need as the pandemic continues to impact local families.
We look forward to increasing the number of students provided for by our 2021 Angel Program.
We are very proud of what we have accomplished, which is thanks to everyone in the community who
generously donated their time, products, services and expertise.
